home cabin in Kentucky!

A testimonial:

"Greetings! My name is Jeffrey R. and I have recently had the opportunity to help construct a 12' x 20' cabin here in Michigan that Deer Run Cabins sent to a friend of mine. Needless to say, I have been extremely impressed by both the quality of the materials, the ease of construction, and, more than anything, the excellent customer service that Deer Run Cabins has been providing. My wife Victoria and I (and our five children) have been looking for a new house ever since a tornado destroyed ours this past August. We are now strongly considering ordering one of the new "Small Home Cabin Kits" that is shown on this website. We certainly hope that we can do business with you as we rebuild our future!" Jeffrey and Victoria R.

The Konstantinov Family of Iowa: "We managed to get the smaller (10'x12') of the
two cabins we bought from Deer Run Cabins mostly finished in one weekend. The craftsmanship of the woodcutting and organization is impressive! Everything went together beautifully."

Alot of people who call us don't realize the interior is finished already upon completion of constructing their kit. There is nothing else needed for the walls, ceiling and floor. When construction is complete, this pictures shows the actual inside ceiling, the inside exterior wall (next to door) and the floor.

This picture also shows a gloss on the ceiling, walls and floor - this man has simply used polyurethane to protect the wood.

"My family and friends are looking forward to some really fun times. Thanks for everything! I see your business has expanded. Good for you and good luck. I'll be sure to recommend Deer Run Cabins to anyone looking for a good quality cabin." Mike from New Jersey.

Deer Run Cabins of Bradfordsville, Kentucky, began building log cabins locally in 2000. We expanded our coverage nationwide in 2006 by offering them as pre-cut cabin kits. We use all kiln-dried white or yellow pine lumber, milled by the Amish for the log-boards.

A 14' x 20' cabin kit ready for shipping

These cabins are now available in kit form so all you need are a few tools and the labor to assemble them. All the precut wood, two insulated Pella windows, one 36’’ walk-in door, screws, nails, caulking and even the stain is included! There is a three-year warranty on the Watershield and UV Protectant Stain. There is nothing else to purchase, just assemble with the easy-to-follow instructions included and you’re all set!

We use all 1 & 1/2’’ tongue-and-groove wood. No foundation or piers are needed, unless local or state codes require them. These cabins are 100% self-standing. The main runners are pressure treated, so we recommend a stone or gravel base for good drainage.

Choose from round "D" logs or flat grooved boards for siding boards.

The roof is #1 metal with a 1/4’’ barrier of R18 value insulation to reduce moisture and sweating problems. Under that is the 1-1/2’’ tongue-and-groove wood ceiling. The roof metal is available in four colors:
Hunter Green

Bright Red

Ash Gray

Burgundy

Our Insulation Options

The new Thermal 3HT insulation system is the latest in insulation technology. It is a thin sheet product with a special foam core and reflective laminates on both sides. It's the all-in-one weather guard: stopping cold, wind, heat and moisture, it creates true thermal break, eliminates condensation and it environmentally friendly. Toxic-free saves on heating cost Virtually waterproof! One inch outperforms 6-inches of fiber insulation 1" = R27 Value.
"The R27 value is a performance R-value done by an independent testing facility that did the test in real world conditions. Unfortunately, this is not what code officials will recognize. Most officials will only accept the ASTM 1363 wall assembly test which Thermal 3HT has an R-value of 10.2 per inch or the ASTM C518 conductive test which Thermal 3HT has an Rvalue of 4.1 per inch," as stated by manufacturer. See www.insulation3ht.com.

Standard R-18 insulation, a NASA product called Double Bubble, comes in a roll.
